Hot Yoga Tips (Triangle)

Triangle
Another iconic posture of the Hot Yoga practice, some even call it the “Bikram Triangle” because of how different it is compared to the Ashtanga Yoga “Extended Triangle”
Special Note on Triangle:
Even though the preparation of the posture looks similar to “Warrior II” pose, it is actually not the same posture, the difference being the hip position
In Triangle we perform “internal rotation” of the hip joint in order to perform twist as we enter the posture, whereas in “Warrior II”, the focus is to “externally rotate” the hip joint to allow hip opening, they are fundamentally different in both shape and physiology
Five alignments of Triangle:
There are 5 alignments very important to maintain in Triangle:
-
The utmost important alignment is the knee being 90-degree, do the best you can!
-
Elbow touching the knee, never below the knee
-
Fingertip hovering ever so slightly above the big and second toe
-
Look up to the ceiling and touch the chin to shoulder
-
Push the left hip forward and down, turn and twist the upper body to the right (right hip forward and down, turn and twist the upper body to the left on the other side)
